NOSTALGIC FUTURE

Space: 1999 was one of the most popular TV shows in 70s. 1999 was the “far future”. It was an inspiring show that made us think about future. By the 90s we had a new milestone called “Millennium”. It was the time about a dystopic future where systems stop working, daily life malfunctions and everything goes wrong. At the beginning of 2000's, 2020 was the star year of future. Twenty-twenty projects were the talk of the town, people made assertive assumptions. We love dreaming about future. Let’s go back in the time to 50s and see how people in those years dreamt about future.

Tele-shoppıng

Right after television came in to our lives people started to imagine visual communication. While visualizing the idea, a slogan was used that gives the impression that tele-communication is two-ways. The illustrated woman hides herself behind the television so that the anchorman can’t see her.

This is an idea that was generated when there was no Internet. The lady of the house can get support from experts while cooking, she can even order the missing ingredients.

Movıng Walls

You shall not limit shopping! The problem of having small rooms and houses and having not enough space for new products let people to envisage moving walls to create more space. Yet, it only stayed as a fantasy.
